My name is Casey Hearing, Ph.D., and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland. I also have the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) in multiple states through PSYPACT.

I enjoy working with children and teens (ages 5-18) to complete strengths-based assessments that focus on identifying ways to support functioning at home and at school. I have had the opportunity to learn about assessment through work in community-based clinics, schools, hospitals, and private practice settings. As a graduate student at The George Washington University, I trained in assessment at The River School, where I completed assessments for children in pre-k through third grade with hearing differences. While I enjoy working with kids of all ages, my foundational training with early elementary students solidified a love of this population that I have carried forward since. I received my pre-doctoral internship training at the Milton Hershey School, where I completed assessments and provided therapy for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Following internship, I returned to the DC area to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at the Capital Institute for Cognitive Therapy. Since that time, I opened a private practice where I provide therapy for kids, teens, and young adults.

I understand that learning challenges can impact mood, anxiety, and self-esteem and I prioritize providing practical recommendations aimed at improving functioning at home, school, and in social settings. I approach every assessment like a puzzle and I believe that as an evaluator my job is to understand not just how someone’s brain works, but also how they can use their unique strengths to make life feel easier. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my dog and cats, gardening, riding my bike, and doing yoga.
